SAN DIEGO – A film producer is suing an unknown BitTorrent user over allegations the user distributed its movie online without permission.
LHF Productions Inc. filed a complaint on Sept. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Doe-68.6.254.27 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that its film, "London Has Fallen," was illegally distributed by the defendant, who is currently known only by its IP address, through the use of BitTorrent software. The plaintiff alleges this action caused it to suffer from substantial monetary losses.
The plaintiff holds Doe-68.6.254.27 responsible because the defendant allegedly violated an intellectual property right by distributing the film without consent from plaintiff.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, permanent injunction, damages, costs, attorney's fees and further relief as the court deems proper. It is represented by James S. Davis in Chula Vista.
