Optician alleges she is entitled to disability benefits from Aetna Life

Insurance 03

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County optician alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Anait Khachatryan filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Aetna Life Insurance Co., Luxottica Group Benefit Plan and Does 1 to 10 citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her physicians determined in March that she was not able to work and that she filed a claim for disability benefits, which was denied.

The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co., Luxottica Group Benefit Plan and Does 1 to 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly upheld their decision to deny plaintiff's claim for disability benefits despite being disabled and having sufficient medical records to support her claim.

The plaintiff seeks damages, payment of disability benefits at the rate of $2,400 per month, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Kevin M. Zietz of Law Offices of Kevin M. Zietz PC in Encino and Todd Krauss of Law Offices of Todd Krauss & Associates in Encino.
