Star Fabrics alleges textile designs were used without authorization

Copyright 10

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles business alleges that garment makers and retailers manufactured and sold clothes that have a similar design to plaintiff's copyrighted fabrics.

Star Fabrics Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Bloomingdale's The Outlet Store Inc., Sioni Apparel Group Corp., Kitty Textile Inc. and Does 1 through 10 citing copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds Bloomingdale's The Outlet Store Inc., Sioni Apparel Group Corp., Kitty Textile Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly distributed garments bearing plaintiff's designs without authorization.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, award all profits to plaintiff, statutory damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Howard S. Han of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
