SACRAMENTO – A former Kern County deputy sheriff has filed a class action over allegations he and other deputy sheriffs were not paid for all hours worked.

Darren Wonderly filed a complaint on behalf of those similarly situated on Oct. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against  Sheriff Donny Youngblood, Mick Gleason, county supervisor; Zack Scrivner, county supervisor; Mike Maggard, county supervisor; David Couch, county supervisor; Leticia Perez, county supervisor; Jordan Kauffman, Kern County treasurer; Mary B. Bedard, auditor controller; the County of Kern, and Does 1 through 50 alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked without being paid equal to the total hours worked. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed and refused to pay plaintiff for the total hours worked, did not pay overtime and improperly compensate deputy sheriffs with compensatory time off.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks liquidated damages, damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by Gregory G. Petersen in Newport Coast.
