The Regents of the University of California alleges company's LED lights infringe patent

Patents 07

LOS ANGELES – A Santa Barbara research institution alleges a Louisiana company is using its patented technology without permission for a light bulb.

The Regents of the University of California filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Zlight Technology LLC alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages as the result of its '789 patent, which concerns a mirrorless light emitting diode, being infringed. The plaintiff holds Zlight Technology LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly sells and imports LED filament light bulbs that infringes one or more claims of plaintiff's patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction against the defendant, compensatory damages, treble damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by David C. Radulescu, Ph.D. of Radulescu LLP in New York, New York and Perry R. Clark of Law Offices of Perry R. Clark in Palo Alto.
