LOS ANGELES – A New York business alleges its imported cargo of recreational drones was stolen.

The Ashley Collection Inc. filed a complaint on Nov. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against SBB Shipping USA Inc., US Transportation Co. Inc., HRG Transport Inc. and Truck Tub International alleging breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, it ordered a shipment of recreational drone equipment and contracted with SBB as a freight forwarder. The suit states SBB delegated the shipment to U.S Transportation and HRG for inland carriage, and the shipment was deposited at Truck Tub's yard. The plaintiffs allege the shipment was stolen from the yard and because of this, it was unable to sell or replace the shipment in time for the holiday season. The suit states that although roughly 30 percent of the shipment was recovered, the incident cost the plaintiff more than $180,000.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $180,883.40, interest, and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Joshua A. Southwick of Gibson Robb & Lindh LLP in San Francisco.
