LOS ANGELES – Several California companies are accused of manufacturing or selling clothing featuring unauthorized reproductions of fabric designs.
Unicolors Inc. filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against J One Trading Inc., individually and doing business as Always; Ross Stores Inc., doing business as DD's Discounts; Ally Fashion Inc.; G Stage Love.com Inc.; and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its textile designs being reproduced without permission. The plaintiff holds J One Trading Inc., individually and doing business as Always; Ross Stores Inc., doing business as DD's Discounts; Ally Fashion Inc.; G Stage Love.com Inc.; and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sell garments through retailers that bear plaintiff's designs.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiff's designs, award all profits and any monetary advantage gained by the defendants to the plaintiff, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
