A woman accuses doctor and government agency of alleged medical malpractice

Medical malpractice 09

CALIFORNIA — A woman is suing Penelope Velasco, M.D.; U.S. Department of Health & Human Services; and Does 1 through 200, doctor and government agency, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence.

Mayra Noris filed a complaint on Nov. 29, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide the proper degree of medical expertise to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2014, she sustained physical injuries due to a failed procedure done to her. The plaintiff holds Penelope Velasco, M.D.; United States Department of Health & Human Services; and Does 1 through 200 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly implant a medical device on plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks general damages, all medical expenses, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Paula Jovell of Liddy Law Firm in Pasadena and David R. Shoop of Shoop, a professional law corporation, in Beverly Hills.
