LOS ANGELES – A widow and her children allege negligent care at a veterans medical facility caused the death of her husband.
Jean Pratt, Tamika Pratt, Gaylen Pratt and Keyon Dishay Pratt filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against United States of America and Does 1 to 10 alleging wrongful death.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2014, their decedent T.L. Pratt was a patient at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center West Los Angeles. They allege the defendant's employees negligently placed a nasogastric tube, causing a perforation of the jejunum that resulted in septic shock and the decedent's death on Dec. 10, 2014.
The plaintiffs hold United States of America and Does 1 to 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently placed the nasogastric tube.
The plaintiffs seek damages in the sum of $500,000. They are represented by John P. Blumberg and David L. Margulies of Blumberg Law Corp. in Long Beach.
