LOS ANGELES – A Lake Forest resident alleges he was denied employment because of false information provided on a consumer report.

James Anthony Bryant filed a complaint on Dec. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against A-Check America Inc., doing business as A-Check Global, alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages and lost opportunities because of a report provided by the defendant to a prospective employer that incorrectly stated the plaintiff was convicted of a felony.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, statutory and punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Stephanie R. Tatar of Tatar Law Firm, APC in Burbank.
