Woman alleges Aetna wrongfully denied her claim for disability benefits

Insurance 03

LOS ANGELES – A Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP employee claims she was wrongfully denied disability benefits.

Tessa Raisin filed a complaint on Dec. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Aetna Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, she became disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld their decision to deny plaintiff's disability benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due to the plaintiff, reinstatement, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Glenn R. Kantor and Mitchell O. Hefter of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
