LOS ANGELES – The Vernon copyright owner of a textile design alleges that two Houston companies and a company in Canada unlawfully used its design.

Urban Textile Inc. filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Mark-Edwards Apparel Inc., Stage Stores Inc., Specialty Retailers Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds Mark-Edwards Apparel Inc., Stage Stores Inc., Specialty Retailers Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly used online and retail stores to distribute garments that featured plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendants, award all profits to the plaintiff, statutory damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief the court grants. It is represented by C. Yong Jeong of Jeong & Likens LC in Los Angeles.
