Photographer alleges photos of Eros Ramazzotti used in book without permission

LOS ANGELES – A celebrity photographer claims a publishing company and others used his photographs without authorization for a biography.

Guido Karp filed a complaint on Dec. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Rizzoli/ RCS Libri S.P.A., Rizzoli International Publications Inc., et al. citing copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is a musician and celebrity photographer and owns copyrights to photographs he took of musician Eros Ramazzotti in 1998. The plaintiff holds Rizzoli/ RCS Libri S.P.A., Rizzoli International Publications Inc., et al. because the defendants published and distributed a biography of Ramazzotti that contains unauthorized reproductions of the plaintiff's photographs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, profits, statutory damages in the maximum amount of $150,000, enjoin the defendant, disgorgement, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by John A. Case Jr. of Law Offices of John A. Case Jr. in Los Angeles.
