LOS ANGELES – A Kansas woman formerly employed by Los Angeles-based Farmers Insurance claims her disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.
Jennifer McMaster filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Liberty Life Assurance Co. of Boston and Farmers Group Inc. Employee Prepaid Benefit Plan citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, she became disabled due to the effects of fibromyalgia, fatigue and depression and was initially approved to receive disability benefits in 2014 until the benefits were terminated in 2016. The plaintiff holds Liberty Life Assurance Co. of Boston and Farmers Group, Inc. Employee Prepaid Benefit Plan responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay her benefits despite significant medical proof.
The plaintiff seeks payment of all past due benefits and pay for future monthly benefits, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Glenn R. Kantor of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
