Owner of Lacy Sunshine Stamps claims worked was copied, sold on Etsy

LOS ANGELES – A scrapbook shop owner claims his works were unlawfully copied and sold online.

Tom Schmidt filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the Sherri Annd Baldy, individually, and doing business as Scrapbook Stamp Society, Mybestiesshop.com, and etsy.com/shop/SherriBaldy; and Does 1-10 citing copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is the owner of Lacy Sunshine Stamps, a scrapbooking retailer. The plaintiff holds Baldy, individually, and doing business as Scrapbook Stamp Society, Mybestiesshop.com, and etsy.com/shop/SherriBaldy; and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly copied and distributed plaintiff's works without authorization from the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendants, award all profits and any other monetary advantages to the plaintiff, exemplary and statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott Alan Burroughs and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
