Man seeks unpaid disability benefits from Unum Life, Aerospace Corp. plan

LOS ANGELES – A former Aerospace Corp. employee alleges he is disabled and his benefits were wrongfully terminated.

Lonny R. Western filed a complaint on Dec. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the Unum Life Insurance Co. of America, The Aerospace Corp., The Aerospace Corp. Long Term Disability Plan and Does 1 through 10 citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2010, he became disabled and was initially approved for disability benefits until it was terminated in March 2015. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Co. of America, The Aerospace Corp.; The Aerospace Corp. Long Term Disability Plan; Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly terminated plaintiff's disability benefits and refused to provide documents and information to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks damages, unpaid disability benefits, collateral benefits, interest, statutory damages, extra contractual damages, disgorgement, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Stuart H. Sandhaus of Stuart H. Sandhaus, APC in San Juan Capistrano.
