LOS ANGELES – An Ojai photographer claims a Pasadena company used her photo to promote its business without her authorization.
Lisa Corson filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Home as Art Inc. doing business as Deasy/Penner & Partners, alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages from having her copyrighted work used without her authority. The plaintiff holds Home as Art Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly publicly displayed plaintiff's images without her consent on its website and gained monetary benefit from it.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of up to $150,000 for each infringement, enjoin the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Mathew K. Higbee of Higbee & Associates in Santa Ana.
