Life Insurance Co. of North America accused of wrongfully denying woman's disability benefits

LOS ANGELES – A Lockheed Martin employee alleges her insurer wrongfully denied her disability benefit claims.

Bonawynn Carter filed a complaint on Dec. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the Life Insurance Co. of North America and Does 1 through 10 citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January 2015, she became disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied by the defendant. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to pay plaintiff's benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks long-term disability benefits, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Gregory J. Goodheart of Goodheart Law Offices in West Hills.
