Nationstar Mortgage accused of telephone harassment

Phone 06

LOS ANGELES – A Palmdale consumer claims a debt collector harassed her with frequent calls.

Maria Rebecca Jardin filed a complaint on Jan. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Nationstar Mortgage LLC alleging violation of the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 2016, she suffered damages from receiving several collection calls from the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Nationstar Mortgage LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly kept on calling and harassing the plaintiff despite her requests to stop calling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, treble damages, injunctive relief, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Michael S. Agruss of Agruss Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
