Phone 01

LOS ANGELES – A Shell Beach individual has filed a class-action lawsuit against a loan provider over its allegedly unlawful marketing calls.

Terri Alves filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Jan. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Worldwide Capital Management Inc. and Does 1 through 10 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2016, she suffered damages from receiving unwanted phone calls from the defendant and being charged for incoming calls. The suit states the defendant called to solicit its services. The plaintiff holds Worldwide Capital Management Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff despite her being on the Do-Not-Call registry.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman, P.C. in Woodland Hills.
