National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh files suit after man was injured on Coast Guard base

Insurance 06

SAN FRANCISCO – An insurance company alleges a man was injured while working at the U.S. Coast Guard base at Treasure Island.

National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh PA filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against United States of America, United States Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 14, 2014, its insured, Donte Green, suffered temporary and permanent disabilities, loss of earnings and earning capacity, pain, suffering and other damages when a metal plate in the road collapsed under the vehicle driven by Green on the premises of plaintiffs' property. Consequently, the suit states the plaintiff was obligated to pay workers' compensation benefits to Green.

The plaintiff holds United States of America, United States Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security responsible because the defendants allegedly allowed a dangerous condition to exist on the roadway.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, monetary damages, attorney's fees, costs of suit, interest, and further relief as the court may deem just. It is represented by Davil Vasquez of Adelson, Testan, Brundo, Novell & Jimenez in Santa Ana.
