LOS ANGELES – Microsoft claims a Walnut business is selling counterfeit copies of its software online.

Microsoft Corp. filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the M. Media, doing business as Metro Media, Metro Media USA, and/or Quinmart and/or formerly known as La Metro Media Inc.; Sheng Ti Leung and Does 1-5 alleging trademark infringement, violation of the Anti-Counterfeiting Amendments and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of counterfeit copies of its software being sold to consumers. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly used plaintiff's trademark to sell counterfeit copies of its software via online download.

The plaintiff seeks to enjoin the defendants; impound all counterfeit and infringing copies of plaintiff's software; illegal profits obtained; pay the plaintiff for general, special, actual, and statutory damages; enhanced statutory damages; all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Audra M. Mori, and Katherine M. Dugdale of Perkins Coie LLP in Los Angeles.
