Woman seeks disability benefits from the Life Insurance Co. of North America

LOS ANGELES – A former emergency department coordinator with Unity Point Health alleges her disability benefits claim was wrongfully denied.

Lori Labelle-Wright filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Life Insurance Co. of North America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled and applied for disability benefits in 2015 but was denied by the defendant. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny plaintiff's disability benefits despite opinions from her physicians.

The plaintiff seeks benefits not paid to the plaintiff plus interest, all other benefits, declare that the plaintiff is entitled to future disability benefits, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Frank N. Darras, Lissa A. Martinez, Susan B. Grabarsky and Phillip S. Bather of Darras Law in Ontario.
