Meyda Lighting accused of copying Dale Tiffany lamp design

Copyright 03

LOS ANGELES – A lighting products company based in La Mirada alleges one of its designs was unlawfully copied.

Dale Tiffany Inc. filed a complaint on Jan. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Meyda Stained Glass LLC, doing business as Meyda Lighting, and Does 1 through 50 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it is the owner of the copyright for the Boehme Table Lamp design. The plaintiff holds Meyda Stained Glass LLC, doing business as Meyda Lighting, and Does 1 through 50 responsible because the defendants allegedly used website and online stores to display and sell products that infringes plaintiff's copyrighted design. The plaintiff alleges the infringing products were sold through Amazon, Sears, Walmart and others.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks profits and compensatory damages, statutory damages of $150,000 for each work infringed, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees plus interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Steven Y. Han of The Han Law Group in Los Angeles.
