LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles wholesale business is accused of copying a La Mirada corporation's lamp design.
Dale Tiffany Inc. filed a complaint on Jan. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Warehouse of Tiffany Inc., doing business as Warehouse of Tiffany, and Does 1 through 50 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its Boehme Table Lamp design copied without its authority. The plaintiff holds Warehouse of Tiffany Inc. and Does 1 through 50 responsible because the defendants allegedly infringed plaintiff's design by distributing lamps that are derived from plaintiff's design through Amazon, Lowe's, Home Depot and other stores.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks profits and compensatory damages, statutory damages of $150,000 per each work infringed, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees plus interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Steven Y. Han of The Han Law Group in Los Angeles.
