LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles auto-dealer law firm has boosted its roster with an attorney whom a founding partner of the firm praised as a quick thinker.

Scali Law Firm has officially hired Jade Jurdi as a senior associate attorney, according to a Feb. 7 news release. Jurdi is a graduate from the UC Berkeley School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. He now concentrates on law in the advertising and environmental fields.

“We saw in him the type of confident, smart and aggressive litigator who our auto-industry clients are looking for — someone who could educate them about all the challenges and changes across the retail-automotive legal landscape and give them really top-notch representation,” Christian Scali, founder and managing partner of Scali Law Firm, told the Northern California Record. “Jade is someone who has demonstrated, since very early in his career, tremendous confidence and poise and an ability to think on his feet, especially in court.”

Before his move to Scali Law Firm, Jurdi was a lawyer at the international firm Norton Rose Fullbright, according to the news release. There, he specialized in representing companies in consumer class claims, specifically when it came to possible abuses to environmental-protection laws in California, which is referred to as Proposition 65. Before that, he worked as an associate attorney at Kemnitzer, Barron and Krieg, where he represented plaintiffs who were suing auto dealers and auto-finance companies.

Scali added that Jurdi's experiences make him the perfect fit and asset to the Scali Law Firm team.

“It fits like a glove because he’s [defended companies in consumer action lawsuits] as well as waged consumer class actions against auto dealers and auto-finance companies,” Scali said. “So he knows the ropes as a litigator and is able to provide the firm with valuable insight into the strategies and tactics of plaintiff’s class counsel, which will substantially help defend our auto dealer and auto-finance company clients.”

Scali went on to say that Jurdi’s past experiences were not the only factors that made him unique.

“Because he’s a Harvard-educated attorney with significant big-law experience, he’s worked on more significant projects and with more sophisticated matters than his contemporaries,” Scali said. “And it’s a little harder to find, in this age bracket, someone with this much instinct, poise and confidence, especially in the courtroom and with clients.”

Scali also raved about Jurdi’s litigating abilities.

“From a litigation perspective, he’s a very young and pleasant guy who takes apart the opposition before they knew what hit them,” he said. “From a team-building perspective, we recognize the importance of having great professionals in every generational category.”

The Scali Law Firm also practices in Ontario, San Diego and Sacramento. The firm has received the title as the Daily Journal’s Top Boutique Law Firm in California. The firm also authored the California New Car Dealers Association’s 2015 Advertising Law Manual, which serves as a guide on best advertising methods for auto dealers.
