Neiman Marcus Group, others accused of infringing fabric designs

LOS ANGELES – Star Fabrics alleges two of its textile designs were unlawfully copied.

Star Fabrics Inc. filed a complaint on Feb. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Neiman Marcus Group Inc., Sunland Sportswear Inc., Amanda Vinci Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having two of its fabric designs copied. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly sold garments made out of fabric that feature plaintiff's designs without authorization.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Howard S. Han of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
