LOS ANGELES – A North Hills consumer alleges a debt collector called her cellphone and contacted her at work after she repeatedly asked for the calls to stop.
Larraine De Leon filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Onemain Financial Group LLC alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in beginning in October 2016, she suffered damages from receiving several collection calls. The plaintiff holds Onemain Financial Group LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly called her multiple times with the intention of collecting an alleged debt after she asked for the calls to cease.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, actual damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Stuart M. Price of Price Law Group APC in Encino.
