LOS ANGELES – A New Jersey limited liability company specializing in beauty tools claims its patented makeup brush designs were unlawfully used by a Los Angeles business.

Artis LLC filed a complaint on March 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Lilly Lashes LLC, Ghalichi Glam Inc. and Lilly Ghalichi alleging trademark infringement and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it has suffered injuries on its reputation, business and goodwill. The plaintiff holds Lilly Lashes LLC, Ghalichi Glam Inc. and Ghalichi responsible because the defendants allegedly manufacture brushes similar in design to the plaintiff's brushes and have used the plaintiff's marks in an unlawful manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, enjoinder against further infringement, profits derived from infringement, actual and treble damages, costs, attorneys' fees, interest and further relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Tamany Vinson Bentz of Venable LLP in Los Angeles and Justin E. Pierce and Moxila A. Upadhyaya of Venable LLP in Washington, D.C.
