Class action filed against city of Ceres alleging unpaid overtime wages

SACRAMENTO – Current and former city of Ceres employees allege they are owed unpaid overtime compensation.

Jonathan McManus, Tyler Born, Alex Craig, Jason Cripe, et al. filed a complaint on March 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against the city of Ceres, California alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid at the proper overtime compensation rate. The plaintiffs holds city of Ceres, California responsible because the defendant allegedly implemented an illegal compensation computation method and underpaid for overtime hours worked by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek unpaid overtime compensation, interest, liquidated damages, all legal fees, health benefits, and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Christopher E. Platten of Wylie, McBride, Platten & Renner in San Jose and by Thomas A. Woodley of Woodley & McGillivary LLP in Washington, D.C.
