LOS ANGELES – A West Covina woman has filed a class action against a home improvement company she claims contacted her for marketing purposes without her permission.
Carolyn Navarro filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on March 6, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against SGI & Co. Inc. and Does 1 through 10 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in June 2016, she suffered damages from receiving several unwanted calls from the defendant. The plaintiff holds SGI & Co. Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly called the plaintiff despite having no prior consent from the plaintiff. She alleges her number is registered on the National Do-Not-Call Registry.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Woodland Hills.
