California man says National Debt Relief continuously called cellphone

Phone 03

SAN DIEGO — A consumer has filed a class-action lawsuit against a debt relief company, citing alleged violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Laurence Clayton filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on March 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against National Debt Relief LLC and Does 1-10,  alleging that they called the plaintiff several times to offer services.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in August 2016, he suffered damages from receiving several unwanted calls on his cellphone. The plaintiff holds National Debt Relief and Does 1 through 10 responsible because they allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff despite not having any prior consent from the plaintiff himself.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages, and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman P.C. in Woodland Hills.
