Cheezburger.com accused of unlawfully using Ron Jeremy photo

Copyright 06

LOS ANGELES – A Santa Monica photography studio alleges its copyrighted photo of Ron Jeremy was used on a humor website without permission.

Michael Grecco Productions Inc., doing business as Michael Grecco Photography, filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cheezburger Inc., doing business as cheezburger.com, and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it created a photo of Ron Jeremy in January 2006 and registered it with the U.S. Copyright Office. The plaintiff holds Cheezburger Inc., doing business as cheezburger.com, and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly publicly displayed plaintiff's photos on their website without authorization.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendants, all profits, monetary advantages, all legal fees, statutory damages, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott Alan Burroughs and David Shein of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
