Law money 02

SACRAMENTO – Health care workers have filed a class action against Eastern Plumas Health Care Foundation over allegations that they were not paid overtime.

Michelle Perez, Lisa Taylor, Maria Marintez and Barbara Nieminen filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Eastern Plumas Health Care Foundation Inc. alleging violation of California labor codes.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked for more than 40 hours per workweek without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiffs hold Eastern Plumas Health Care Foundation Inc. responsible because the defendant also allegedly failed to provide meal and rest periods to their employees.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages and restitution for unpaid overtime wages, meal and rest period premium wages, interest, compensatory damages, interest, statutory penalties, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Richard A. Hoyer, Ryan L. Hicks and Jennifer E. McGuire of Hoyer & Hicks in San Francisco.
