Man alleges Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada wrongfully refused review request

Insurance 03

SAN FRANCISCO – An Anritsu Co. employee alleges his disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.

Jeffrey D. Mauerman filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he became disabled and was initially approved to receive disability benefits in 2013 until they were terminated in 2015. The plaintiff holds Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld their decision to terminate plaintiff's disability benefits and refused his request for review.

The plaintiff seeks all benefits wrongfully withheld, interest, all legal fees, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Richard Johnston of Johnston Law Office in Santa Rosa.
