Phone 06

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles man alleges a debt collector keeps calling him to reach an unknown person.

Jonathan Hensley filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Equidata Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in January 2017, the defendant began calling him in an attempt to collect a debt belonging to an unknown third party. The plaintiff holds Equidata Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly used an artificial voice and called without the plaintiff's consent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages, injunctive relief, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by G. Thomas Martin III and Nicholas J. Bontrager of Martin & Bontrager APC in Los Angeles.
