Woman seeks reinstatement of disability benefits from Union Security Insurance Co.

SAN FRANCISCO – A Monterey County woman alleges her disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.

Ann Olsen filed a complaint on April 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Union Security Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled in 2004 and was initially being paid disability benefits until it was terminated in 2016. The plaintiff holds Union Security Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff's disability benefits despite her still be disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks long term disability benefits in the amount of $13,500 at the rate of $1,125 per month plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Scott E. Shaffman of Monterey.
