Aetna Life Insurance Co. accused of wrongfully denying benefits

Insurance 09

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County woman alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Tina Shenk filed a complaint on April 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Aetna Life Insurance Co. and Does 1-10 citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, she became disabled due to having been diagnosed with chronic Epstein-Barr virus syndrome and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly denied plaintiff's application for disability benefits despite having sufficient medical records to support her claim.

The plaintiff seeks benefits payable under the plan plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Christian J. Garris of Law Offices of Christian J. Garris in Los Angeles.
