Former employee accuses Landry's Inc. of discrimination

Wrongful term 11

SAN FRANCISCO – An African-American woman alleges her former San Francisco employer wrongfully terminated her.

Jalaya Morales filed a complaint on April 3 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against Landry's Inc. and Does 1 through 25 alleging race discrimination, wrongful termination and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was employed as a hostess for the defendants' Rain Forest Cafe from November 2016 to February. She alleges she was not paid for her rest breaks and that the defendants did not keep accurate payroll records.

The suit states that the plaintiff had emergency dental work in February and called off due to pain and swelling in her face. She alleges her manager terminated her employment in response and that she still has not received her final paycheck.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, special and general damages, all legal fees, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Ashwin Ladva and Jillian N. Green of Ladva Law Firm in San Francisco.
