FRESNO – An Allegiant Air LLC flight attendant alleges that she was discriminated against because of an actual and/or perceived disability.
Michelle Budwig filed a complaint on May 5 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Allegiant Air LLC and Does 1-100 alleging that they violated the Fair Employment and Housing Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was hired as a flight attendant in 1999 and was forced to take a leave without pay in 2014 because of a condition that caused her hands to blister. The suit states she was allowed to return to work in 2015 as a flight attendant and wear gloves, but was not reimbursed for back pay and did not receive full pay and benefits. The plaintiff holds Allegiant Air LLC and Does 1-100 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide reasonable accommodation.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks general, punitive and special damages; prejudgment interest; attorney's fees; costs of court and such other relief as the court may deem proper. She is represented by Larry H. Shapazian of Tomassian, Pimentel & Shapazian in Fresno.
