Man seeks disability benefits he alleges Metropolitan Life wrongfully terminated

Insurance 09

FRESNO – A Fresno man alleges that his long-term disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.

Laurence Elep filed a complaint on May 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, Fresno Division against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, he was initially approved for disability benefits and that the benefits were later terminated. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff's disability benefits despite still being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks a requirement for the defendant to pay disability benefits to the plaintiff plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Robert J. Rosati of Robert J. Rosati in Fresno.
