SAN FRANCISCO – A Los Angeles County woman formerly employed by Apollo Management alleges that she remains disabled and that her disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.
Stacy Griffin filed a complaint on May 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Unum Life Insurance Co. of America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became entitled to disability benefits in 2010 and received benefits from the defendant through 2015. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff's disability benefits despite still being disabled according to the terms of the plan and failed to provide a reasonable explanation for the denial of her claims.
The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Glenn R. Kantor, Corinne Chandler and Andrew M. Kantor of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
