LOS ANGELES – A Florida individual is alleged to have imitated a California women's accessories company's designs.
Brighton Collectibles LLC filed a complaint on June 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Ginger Torres, doing business as Brighton Bay and Brighton Bay Designs alleging copyright and trademark infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Torres sells cheap, low-quality imitations of its designs on Amazon and eBay. The plaintiff holds Torres responsible because the defendant allegedly infringed the plaintiff's intellectual property and trademark.
The plaintiff seeks enjoin the defendant, order the destruction of all infringing materials, all profits, compensatory damages no less than $1 million, statutory damages of no less than $150,000, interest, all legal fees, and any other relief as the court deems just.
