The Film Arcade LLC seeks declaratory judgment in copyright dispute

LOS ANGELES – A company engaged in the investment and production of motion pictures is seeking declaratory relief against a motion picture distributor regarding copyrights.

The Film Arcade LLC filed a complaint on June 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Templar Business Credit LLC and Inception Media Group LLC seeking declaratory relief as to rights to copyright assets.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff obtained a judgment from the defendant in February for the amount of $249,793.11. The plaintiff later filed notices of liens with the U.S. Copyright Office against more than 200 films that the defendant insists it holds copyright interests, according to the suit.

The suit states there is a controversy between the parties regarding their respective rights to IMG's copyright assets.

The plaintiff seeks declare that its liens against IMG's copyright assets have priority over Templar's lien, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Edward A. Ruttenberg and Eva S. Neuberg of Leopold, Petrich & Smith PC in Los Angeles.
