Lanard Toys Limited alleges Big Lots unlawfully copied chalk toy

LOS ANGELES – Big Lots Stores is accused of selling a knockoff chalk toy.

Lanard Toys Limited filed a complaint on June 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Big Lots Stores Inc. alleging copyright infringement and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff designed an original chalk toy in 2015 called Chalk Bomb. The plaintiff holds Big Lots Stores Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly sells unauthorized and infringing copies of plaintiff's Chalk Bomb toys.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant; actual damages; profits, treble, exemplary, and/or punitive damages; interest; all legal fees; and any other relief as the court deems just.
