LOS ANGELES – A San Fernando couple alleges that a debt collector has harassed them with numerous phone calls.
Arnoldo & Maria Jara filed a complaint on June 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against GC Services Limited Partnership and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they have been harassed by the defendants with collection calls. They allege that they received 176 calls in a two-month period. The plaintiffs holds GC Services Limited Partnership and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly kept on calling the plaintiffs using an automatic dialing system despite their requests for the calls to stop.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek injunction against the defendants, actual damages, statutory damages, $500 in statutory damages, treble damages of $1,500, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
