Woman files suit over Prudential Insurance Co.'s denial of disability benefits

Insurance 08

LOS ANGELES – A former employee of Grange Mutual Casualty Co. claims that her application for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Kathy Beltz filed a complaint on June 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against The Prudential Insurance Co. of America citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled in 2015 because of cancer and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds The Prudential Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly relied upon the opinions of physicians who were financially biased and/or not qualified.

The plaintiff seeks benefits due to the plaintiff plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Frank N. Darras, Susan B. Grabarsky and Phillip S. Bather of Darras Law in Ontario.
