Woman seeks life insurance benefits from Kanawha Insurance Co., Humana Inc. and Hillsides

Insurance 01

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County woman has filed a suit seeking life insurance benefits from a policy.

Katherine Farina filed a complaint on June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Kanawha Insurance Co., Humana Inc. and Hillsides citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her claim for her late mother's life insurance benefits was denied in February 2016. The plaintiff holds Kanawha Insurance Co., Humana Inc. and Hillsides responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay life insurance benefits due to the plaintiff and failed to timely evaluate her late mother's portability application.

The plaintiff seeks payment of life insurance benefits due to the plaintiff, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Glenn R. Kantor and Brent Dorian Brehm of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
