Patient alleges Clovis Community Regional Medical Center, doctors failed to adequately treat stroke

Medical malpractice 02

FRESNO – A woman alleges she suffered injuries due to a stroke because she was not properly treated at a Fresno County medical facility.

Melonie Torres filed a complaint on June 22 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Scott Ford, M.D.; Philippe Vanderschelden, M.D.; Clovis Community Regional Medical Center; and Does 1-10 alleging medical malpractice and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 18, 2017, she sought treatment for stroke symptoms in the emergency department of the defendants. Plaintiff claims she was inadequately screened and did not receive any treatment reasonably necessary to stabilize her emergency medical condition.

The plaintiff holds Ford, Vanderschelden, Clovis Community Regional Medical Center and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to exercise the proper degree of knowledge, skill, and competence in examining, diagnosing, treating and caring for their patients.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for general and special damages in an amount proven at trial, and for other such relief as the court may deem proper. She is representing herself.
