LOS ANGELES — A Pasadena company is suing a California competitor, alleging patent infringement.
USB Technologies, LLC filed a complaint July 7 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against ADATA Technology (USA) Co. Ltd. of Brea, California, alleging the defendant sold and offered the plaintiff's patent products to online retailer customers in the United States without USB's consent.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 5, 2010, USB became the owner, by assignment, of a U.S. patent titled Double Interface SD Flash Memory Card, which was duly and legally issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
As the sole owner of all rights and titles of the 866 patent, USB alleges ADATA sold the patent products to customers having online storefronts without the plaintiff's knowledge.
The plaintiff alleges ADATA has sold, offered to sell and imported the patent products in the United States in the California district without USB's knowledge, authority or express consent.
USB Technologies seeks trial by jury, damages, court costs, expenses, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other just and equitable relief. It is represented by attorneys Obi Iloputaife and Jayson Sohi of Cotman IP Law Group PLC in Pasadena.
